Acid Detection Paint - Product Overview
The new range of Acid Detection Paint to provide instant visual indication of pipe and joint failures. Available in two forms:-
On Guard Acid Detection Paint, for acids of pH3 and below
In event of a leak, paint changes colour immediately from Yellow to Red.
On Guard Base Detecting Paint, for pH10 and above.
In event of a leak, paint changes colour immediately from White to Blue.
Once the leak is repaired, neutralizing solution is used to return the On Guard paint to it’s original colour.
Associated products include On Guard white primer paint (recommended for best results) and SPOT’R spray to detect and determine an acid spill in all areas.

ON GUARD Acid Detecting Paint is a durable, industrial coating with a unique acid-sensitive component, which changes color (golden yellow to brilliant red) when exposed to acid or acid vapors pH 3 or lower. ON GUARD™ provides an immediate visual indication of a spill or leak, often at quantities that are too small to trigger an exposure with conventional detection devices. This is a lead-free, all-organic, acrylic modified, alkyd enamel. Use on potentially hazardous surfaces such as valves, pipes, pumps, flanges, tanks, sample ports, flow indicators, expansion joints, weld sites, clamps, hose connections, truck tanker or tanker car domes, threaded connections, or any place where an accidental leak or spill may occur. The reaction of ON GUARD™ to acids pH 3 or lower is instantaneous.
After leaks have been repaired, our RTY Acid Neutraliser solution is used to clean the paint surface, which will return to it’s original yellow colour with no need for re-painting (for up to five exposures).
ON GUARD is available in US gallon tins, which is applied using a brush, or as a 12oz aerosol can. For best results, we recommend the use of our ON GUARD white primer.

ON GUARD™ Base Detecting Paint is a white water base coating specially formulated to be an alkaline (base) indicator for solutions with a pH 10 or greater. The cured film of ON GUARD™ will respond to alkalinity, turning the coating from a bright white to a deep, brilliant blue, immediately. ON GUARD™ provides an immediate visual indication of a spill or leak at extremely small quantities. This is an exceptional latex coating with superior durability and easy application. ACID SPOT’R™ is a translucent yellow spray that immediately turns purple upon contact with even small drops of acid pH 2.6 or lower. This is a water soluble product used for the detection of accidental spills or leaks of acids. Use whenever an acid spill or leak occurs or is suspected. ACID SPOT’R™ will determine the perimeter of a spill and will confirm the isolation, repair, and neutralization of a leak. Use this product before coating a potentially contaminated surface to check for surface contamination. Always have an inventory of ACID SPOT’R™ so that you will be prepared in case of an emergency.
