Level measurement of solid material in storage silos just got a whole
lot easier with the new LM02 Laser transmitterfrom Allison Engineering. Unlike
Radar & Ultrasonic devices the Laser can be targeted with "Pin point" accuracy.
-No Beam spread eliminates unwanted & confusing
echo's from the silo walls.
-Will measure uneven surfaces at oblique angles.
(Cone up & Cone down)
-Class 1 "Eye safe" BS EN 6085
-Range up to 350m
-4-20mA output
-Laser Beam sees through Glass
Principle of Operation
Laser technology operates on the same principle as a conventional Radar
or Ultrasonic device. The time of flight of the beam is measured and since
the velocity of light is a constant, the distance to the target can be calculated.
The key benefit of the Laser is that the Light source has a very narrow
wavelength (0.001mm) this means it can be focused over large distances
with minimal Beam Spread.
Consequently Lasers do not require complex signal conditioning to ignore
unwanted echo's from silo walls, & support struts etc . The applications shown
in Fig 1 & 2 would be impossible with a Radar transmitter.
Installation is simple and quick. An onboard visible Laser is used to target
the main beam. When it is aligned as required simply walk away.
